This might be my new favorite place! Of course it’s in Balik Pulau, a part of Penang that captured my heart when we moved here in 2016. You discover it stuck in the middle of a rice paddy field, and done with that chic, simple style that I find unique to young Penangites. And what’s rivals the spectacular setting might be their organic, fresh food. There is a lot of pasta to choose from, delectable nibbles and Remy loved the Tonkatsu fried chicken bites.

My recommendation for the perfect day is to plan one or two afternoon activities in Balik Pulau, and then head to Nada for dinner. We went on the 5pm ATV tour (https://penangkidsguide.com/penang-atv-eco-tour-balik-pulau/) and had reservations for the 7pm seating – we were a bit early but they were able to accommodate us. Another perfect activity for before dinner is to visit the Countryside Stables (https://penangkidsguide.com/countryside-stables/). They also aren’t open until the afternoon and it’s just down the path from the restaurant. In fact you will pass both of these places if you do the ATV tour so keep your eye out for them!

The seating is mostly outside – even the “inside” area is just under a natural canopy of plants. I think it would be a blissful setting for a small party, so if you are planning a kid’s birthday you could have a full day of it in Balik Pulau, and Nada can accommodate larger parties as we were a group of 12.
Having dinner while the sun sets, and the stars start to appear is really magical…
Nada Natural Farming is open on weekends only, from Friday – Sunday, 3pm-9pm. They have 3 seating times (3-5pm, 5-7pm, 7-9pm) and reservations are required. You can contact them on 013-403 0988.
I’ve used some of my own photos from this post but want to make a special mention and give thanks to Nikko Tan (IG: @beanoo) for letting me use some of his incredible photographs!
